Upon entering Khukuri, you’re immediately struck by the cozy ambiance, blending traditional Nepalese decor with a contemporary touch. The soft lighting and earthy tones give the restaurant a homey vibe, perfect for both casual dining and special occasions. But, of course, the real draw here is the food-flavors that will transport you to the bustling streets of Kathmandu.

The menu at Khukuri Restaurant Adelaide offers a variety of authentic Nepalese dishes, each crafted with fresh ingredients and spices that are both bold and comforting. The standout dish for many visitors is the Khukuri Momo, a type of dumpling filled with either chicken, beef, or vegetables. These delicate pockets of flavor are steamed to perfection and paired with a tangy dipping sauce that balances the richness of the filling. It’s no wonder that this dish has become a favorite among locals and tourists alike.

Another must-try is the Nepali Thali-a traditional platter that showcases a variety of flavors in one dish. With rice, daal (lentil soup), curry, and a selection of pickles, this platter offers a little bit of everything, making it perfect for anyone looking to sample a range of Nepalese flavors in one sitting. The curries are aromatic, rich in spices, and packed with taste, especially the Lamb Curry, which is a favorite among those with a love for tender meat and complex, layered flavors.

For vegetarians, Khukuri Restaurant Adelaide doesn’t disappoint. The Vegetable Jhol Momo and Chana Masala (spiced chickpeas) are just a few options that prove Nepalese cuisine isn’t just about meat. The vegetables are always fresh, and the dishes are prepared with a careful hand, ensuring that each bite is a harmonious blend of spices and textures.

And of course, no meal at Khukuri is complete without a sip of Nepali Tea. The tea here is a flavorful, fragrant concoction that blends black tea leaves with spices like cinnamon, ginger, and cardamom, offering a comforting finish to your meal. It's the perfect way to relax and digest after indulging in a hearty plate of Nepalese goodness.

  • We went to this restaurant for my birthday party, and we had an amazing experience. The live music created a beautiful vibe, and the service was outstanding quick, friendly, and well-organized. The food was delicious, and everything ran smoothly. It’s great to see a Nepali restaurant operating so well. We truly enjoyed our family time there. Wishing them all the best and continued success

  • Amazing venue with the most awesome management & staff. We hosted an event with 50+ guests. As expected, the environment was great, food were absolutely delicious. The management was super supportive to our rather uncommon requirements like need for a prayer area. Food is halal. Highly recommended. Definitely going back soon!

  • A True Indian-Nepali Feast in the Heart of Adelaide! ???????????????? This restaurant stands out as one of the best Indian-Nepali dining experiences I’ve had — a true cultural feast right in the heart of Adelaide city. Finally, a place that offers an authentic variety of Nepali and Indian dishes, cooked with care and precision. Many items are slow-cooked in traditional clay pots or bamboo tubes, bringing out deep, earthy flavours. The spice level is gentle, making it perfect for those who enjoy subtle but rich taste. On Friday or Saturday nights, you might be lucky enough to catch live music, which adds a beautiful touch to the already warm and vibrant atmosphere. The restaurant is clean, well-decorated, and welcoming, with plenty of attentive staff always ready to help. The menu includes English descriptions while proudly retaining the original Nepali and Indian names, which I really appreciated as part of the cultural experience. Highly recommended: Try the dumplings cooked in clay pots or bamboo tubes — a standout dish with texture and flavour you won’t forget. Considering the premium quality, authentic preparation, and overall cleanliness, the prices are very reasonable. It’s rare to find this level of food and service at such a fair cost. All in all, this place has become my top cultural food experience in Adelaide — highly recommended for anyone looking to enjoy a rich, delicious, and soulful meal.

  • We were starving and decided to go for lunch while the plan was to go for dinner to watch live music. Of all the dishes we ordered haas ko choela was the highlight. Bandel sekuwa and mustang aloo was good. The tomato achaar and saag in the thakali set was droolworthy. Goat sukuti was fine, could have been better. Chicken chilly was disappointing and momo was underwhelming.
